New Admire: Celadon

Now that I have no more of this...

I get to spend more time doing this...

Ok, maybe more like this...

Anyways, I'm currently reading Martha Stewart's Decorating with Color book. I'm loving it. Why? Because she's a genius! I've learned a lot from this book but I've fallen in love with "Celadon". You may too after seeing these pictures!

Here's a little celadon history lesson for you via Martha Stewart. I hope you'll take a look...

"Green in its many guises is a restful, comforting, versatile color that, like blue, has untold fans. Look out the window, and you may see many shades of green, from the acid green of coleus to the deep blue green of spruce. One shade we find particularly inspiring is celadon, the color of a pottery originally from China that we have collected for many years. Celadon was first produced during the period known as the Song Dynasty, between 960 and 1279. Its Chinese name, qingci, means greenish porcelain. The pottery became known as celadon in seventeenth-century Europe, most likely in reference to the hero of French pastoral romance novel L'Astree, published in 1610. Celadon, a shepherd, was noted for his green clothing, a style much imitated in Europe at about the same time the Chinese pottery was being introduced to Paris, Many centuries later, the pottery is still winning new admires, who are drawn to its simple shapes as well as its colors, which range from gray green to olive to jade."

Celadon, a perfect accent color. Hmmm...where shall I use you?

This green has the most amazing quality of being a neutral yet adding that subtle pop of a truly rich, elegant color. Nice post. Love the potty pic!
